Progress reports

Reading the prompting and response charts

What each chart on a goal page is telling you.

4 min read

Independence over time

The share of opportunities the student completed with no prompt. This is the headline number in most progress reports — a rising line means real fading of support, even if the raw accuracy percentage is flat.

Prompt level distribution

How often each prompt level was needed across the period. Watch for the mix shifting from physical and model prompts toward gestural and verbal ones.

Response method and quality

Shows which modes the student actually used to respond. Useful evidence when arguing for or against an AAC change, or when a goal should be measured differently.

Trend line

Fitted across your data points and extended toward the goal criterion, so you can see whether the current rate of progress reaches the criterion by the target date.
